SMDP's Community Service Committee selects one of the three Southern Maryland Counties each year and then we paint Christmas ornaments to decorate a tree for that county's Hospice organization. In the past we have also painted plaques for the benefit of the Red Cross who sold them and the profit from those sales helped them meet their goals.

In 2008, we painted carousel horses for the 350th Anniversary of Charles County. Our painted horses were placed on music boxes which played "As time goes by". The paintings one the carousel horses were individually designed and painted by Southern Maryland Decorative Painters. The music boxes were numbered and some were sold for $150 each.
